Wednesday Night Prayer Service

Every Wednesday

6:30pm – 7:30pm

We believe as Christ-followers that God delights to work through the prayers of His people.

WHY A PRAYER SERVICE?

You see this in the New Testament with the church coming together to pray big prayers. You see this in the Old Testament with the people gathered around in worship at the Tabernacle or Temple for prayer. Our God has not changed and still answers the prayers of His people. We join you to be a part of gathered prayer.

We also believe that prayer isn't only for you and God alone. There are several important ways to pray in addition to that, often involving others. To have a balanced prayer life, we offer the Prayer Service.

Just think, Jesus told his disciples how to pray with the Lord's Prayer (notice the "us" plural in the Lord's Prayer).

Jesus taught that different types of prayer accomplish different things sometimes (think how Jesus shares that fasting plus prayer was a breakthrough point one time to disciples).

In the early church, then so too we believe gathered prayer matters (Letter from Paul to Timothy, 1st Timothy 2) for effective change in your life and the lives of those you love.

It is a privilege to approach the Lord in prayer.

DO I HAVE TO BE SUPER SPIRITUAL TO ATTEND?

No. This is a real, genuine prayer time. The Lord does not hear prayers just because they are long, or use lots of religious words. The Lord sees the heart, and that heart in love with Him, sees prayers answered.

You can be a newer Christ-follower or a long-time one to come. All are welcome to this.

What do you do then? We take time in our prayer service to celebrate God's answers to prayer. We also lift up requests together believing there is a great impact from gathered prayer.

Every week we meet, especially for Prayer. There are a few worship songs and then lots of prayers.

When? Wednesday nights 7:15 - 8 pm.
Where? In the auditorium of the Main Building. This is the larger building on The Lakes Church campus.
Who? It's open to the community, so whether you go to this church or another, you are invited to be a part.

Come prepared to see what God does in your life and how He exceeds all our expectations.

See you there!

Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Christian teacher, preacher, devotional author said it this way about Prayer Gatherings in general: "It fills my heart with gladness to see so many ... persons gathered together at what is sometimes wickedly described as, ‘only a prayer meeting.’ It is good for us to draw nigh unto God in prayer, and specially good to make up a great congregation for such a purpose."
