Assurance of Salvation

The most valuable relationship you may have is assurance you do know Jesus, the Son of God personally.  It is God's plan for you to have that personal relationship and to trust Jesus.  You see, God is not interested in how you were raised, what your parents believed, or what a religious figure has said, but rather if you know Jesus truly by personal faith.

The Bible tells us:  Jesus came to earth, lived a holy life before God the Father and mankind, and died on the cross even though He was without sin (someone without sin would not need to die).  Why did he die then?

We also know Jesus' death on the cross was a strategic move of God.  Jesus took away any future judgment for our sin once for all if we place our faith in Him as our personal Savior.  Those who place faith in Jesus are totally forgiven past, present, and future.

The state we are all born into the Bible says is sin, pride, selfishness, etc (Psalm 51) (Romans 3:23).  Since God is everywhere present and completely pure, in God's eyes when we break even one of his commandments, we have broken His will.  But that's not where it ends.  If heaven is a pure place, without sin, so how are we made right?

The solution is we trust Jesus to have worked our salvation for us.  This is the essence of faith.  Because no one, not the prophets of long ago, or any of us today are "good" enough to work our own forgiveness with God out.  Only Jesus is good enough, so He is called your righteousness, or right standing, when you decide to believe on Him as a personal decision.

You can make a decision to place trust in Jesus to save you and give you a new heart and a new life to live for him (according to the Book of Romans 6:4 and 10:9-10).  In fact, you can do it in your own words in a prayer to God right now.  He welcomes you to.

The Bible tells us that Jesus desires to free men and women from the dark path of trying to make up morality, solutions to sin, and solve guilt on your own in refuges (whatever those may be for each person uniquely).

This change of mind is important.  We change our mind about who Jesus is, He is now Lord of us and Savior of us, not just a religious figure we learned about as kids or that our friends talk about sometimes.

We change our mind about what sin is also and how the world should be and what is right in God's eyes.  This has a name you can look up in the back of any Bible, called "repentance."  To repent simply means to turn direction, to turn 180 degrees.  It's a change from where your headed, where you are ending up.

Trust in Jesus to save you and turning to God's way together make up belief that saves you from sin and self. If you tell God you trust him and his Son dying for your sins, and that you turn to His view of things, you will surely be saved today.

God hears the simplicity of the prayer, and will not turn away from those who draw near to him.  God always loves those who join His family by faith in Jesus. The Bible tells you we are adopted into God's family when we believe on Jesus. This is a family the whole world over made up of people who love the Lord.

Going forward:  God's power will be in your heart to give you new, purer desires. He has promised that the person of the Holy Spirit, one of the members of the Christian Trinity, will help you live for Him in a fresh start.  The Holy Spirit strengthens you each day to live for God.  This is walking with God.  You may fall down sometimes, but God will lift you back up because He loves you deeply.  This is the life of living in God's grace, unearned favor.

This rescue mission of God for your salvation is a gift.  It's free.  The Bible records through Paul the Apostle, that Jesus Christ stepped in to save us out of love.  Notice:  "For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly." (according to the Book of Romans 5:6)

You might consider praying something along these lines, if it is your desire to trust Jesus to save you:

"Father, I believe the truth in your Word, that "If you confess with your mouth that 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)  I confess I'm not my own lord, and that I need a Savior, and Jesus is Lord of my new life, and died in my place to take away all of my sins.  I want to be forgiven and start a new life in Jesus, and have the hope of heaven.  I believe Jesus rose from the dead, so in that pattern I will too.  In Jesus' name, Amen."
